Structure and working principle
Horizontal screw centrifuge realizes solid-liquid separation by accelerating the settling speed of solid particles under the action of centrifugal force due to the density difference between solid and liquid phases.
The centrifuge is composed of two rotors, one is called drum, and the other rotor is spiral discharger (spiral for short). When the drum rotates at a high speed, the slurry in the drum rotates with the drum and is subjected to centrifugal force, which is many times greater than gravity. In this way, the solid particles will be separated from the liquid and settle on the inner wall of the drum from the axis of the centrifuge drum. The screw unloader in the drum rotates at a speed lower than that of the drum and pushes the deposited solid particles to the slag outlet, The differential speed between the outer drum and the screw unloader depends on the transmission ratio and speed of the differential.

Characteristics of suspension materials
The larger the solid particles in the material, the easier it is to separate. The size of the solid particles is different. The final separation effect is determined by the solid phase of small particles. The machine can generally remove solid particles of more than 5um. When the solid particles are especially fine, they will not settle and separate, but will be discharged together with the clear liquid; The final separation effect depends on the distribution of solid particles of the material. The more particles above 5um, the better the separation effect; On the contrary, the worse the separation effect.
Generally, crystalline solid phase and fibrous solid phase are easy to separate, while floc and paste solid phase are difficult to separate. Due to the large maximum water solubility of floc and paste solid phase, it is easy to slip when pushing sediment spirally, which affects the separation effect. Therefore, the flow volume should not be too large when separating floc and paste solid phase.
The greater the weight difference between solid phase and liquid phase, the better the separation, on the contrary, the worse the separation effect
The smaller the liquid viscosity is, the easier it is to separate. When the liquid viscosity is higher, the solid phase entrained in the clarified liquid increases and the separation effect becomes worse. At this time, the material temperature can be increased and the viscosity can be reduced to improve the separation effect (the maximum feed temperature is not greater than 95 ℃).
Selection of feed flow (i.e. treatment capacity)
From the perspective of separation, the smaller the feed flow is, the smaller the axial velocity of the material in the drum is, the longer the residence time of the material in the drum is, and the better the separation effect is. With the increase of feed volume, the axial flow increases, the residence time of materials in the drum decreases, and the separation effect becomes worse. The feed volume of the centrifuge is also limited by the maximum slag discharge capacity of the screw. If the feed volume is too large, the separated sediment will not be discharged in time, resulting in material blockage of the drum. Therefore, the appropriate feed flow should be selected according to the material characteristics, separation requirements and solid content of materials, Generally, when the solid content is large, the feed volume should not be too large. The appropriate feed flow can be determined after comparing the separation effects of various flows. Generally, it is recommended that the flow of difficult to separate materials should not be too large, and the flow of easy to separate materials can be larger, but pay attention to the maximum slag discharge of the spiral, otherwise it will cause material blockage.
